On 23 July 2026, the Sentinel-2 satellite looked down on Rondônia, in Brazil's western Amazon — and caught the frontier itself: a dense mosaic of irregular cleared blocks, every field a different size, shape, and shade of green or tan, branching off narrow access roads in the "fishbone" pattern that has become one of the most recognizable signatures of deforestation seen from orbit.
Second piece from Brazil in the catalogue, and a second look at the same agricultural frontier that produced The Soy Frontier No. 1 (FFO-BR-001) — this time further west, where the clearing pattern reads less like large industrial blocks and more like a hand-cut patchwork quilt of mismatched shapes colliding at every angle.
