On 8 September 2025, the Sentinel-2 satellite looked down on the Tokachi Plain in eastern Hokkaido near harvest time — a dense patchwork of wheat, sugar beet, and potato fields in every shade of green and brown, each parcel a slightly different colour, texture, and stage of maturity, stitched together into one of the most graphic farmland quilts in the catalogue.
