On 23 August 2025, the Sentinel-2 satellite looked down on Williston Lake, the vast reservoir flooded behind the W.A.C. Bennett Dam in northern British Columbia's Rocky Mountain Trench. Pale drawdown bands trace where the shoreline has receded against dark conifer forest, and dendritic arms of water reach back into flooded valleys that were river bottoms long before the dam went in.
