On 23 August 2025, the Sentinel-2 satellite looked down on Mistastin Lake, a remote impact crater lake deep in the Labrador interior. A curved central island — the crater's uplifted core, thrown up by a meteorite strike some 36 million years ago — sits like a dark comma inside the lake's still water, ringed by pale, glacially-scoured bedrock.
