On 9 July 2026, the Sentinel-2 satellite looked down on the Serengeti National Park mid dry-season and found dark fire scars braiding across the savanna grassland like handwriting — the seasonal burns that clear old growth and renew the plains, visible from orbit as a loose network of charcoal trails against tan and green grass.
